Who are you?
I am Brett Heaston. My day job is in Finance & accounting. I am married to Jannel and we have five kids. I have a passion for history and a love for God, which moved me to create this podcast.
What led you to create this podcast?
For years I had an introverted job, where I could listen to podcasts all day long. In addition to listening to my favorite pastors and teachers, I would listen to everything I could related to history. I would get irritated when I realized how intentional spiritual aspects were removed from history. Biblical foundations are difficult to find now in the history books. This irritation led me to create this podcast. The original intention was to tell about 10 of my favorite historical accounts where they took God out of history. Instead…I had an impression to start from the beginning.
What denomination are you?
That’s a common question, and the answer is complicated. I was raised Methodist, went to a Catholic High School, and my wife grew up Lutheran. I was led to Jesus in college by members of a campus crusade ministry, but it was years later when I truly understood my salvation in 2003. Since 2003, we’ve served as elders in a non-denominational church and participated in multiple evangelism outreaches at music festivals, motorcycle rallies, taught in churches, led homegroups, and conduct annual mission trips as a family. We currently serve on the ministry team at Eastridge Church in Issaquah, WA.
What other projects are you working on?
After completing the Resilience Awakening, I have moved on toward finishing a children’s chapter book, with my eldest daughter Madelyn, titled Flora of Amoria. Flora will demonstrate great honor in her quest to redeem the Kingdom of Amoria.
In addition, I am working on a historical study on the major global conflicts of the past 150 years. After studying all the battles in the Bible, I plan to apply this Biblical Worldview and understanding to the great conflicts of the past few generations. The work, titled Cities Built on the Sand, takes a Biblical Worldview examining spiritual cause and effects of global events.
